Investing in Your Potential
At the B.F. and Rose H. Perkins Foundation, we’re here to help local students achieve their educational goals. If you’ve lived in Sheridan County for at least a year and graduated from one of its accredited high schools, you may be eligible for an interest-free student loan of up to $5,000 per year. Best of all, there’s no limit to the total amount you can borrow as you continue your education.
Loan Requirements
- Age: Applicants must be 20 or younger when first applying. Once approved, students remain eligible for future loans regardless of age.
- Academics: A minimum 2.5 GPA (on initial application) and at least 12 credit hours per term are required. Transcripts must be submitted each reporting period; students with a GPA below 2.25 may not receive additional loans until grades improve.
- Loan Terms: Loans are interest-free and require signing a promissory note, which may need a co-signer. Repayment begins six months after graduation or leaving school.
- Use of Funds: Loan money must be used only for approved educational purposes. Misuse may result in the loan becoming immediately due.
- Enrollment: Students must remain enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours). Dropping out or discontinuing school causes repayment within six months.
- Insurance: Borrowers must maintain life insurance equal to the loan amount, with the Foundation listed as a collateral assignee, until the loan is fully repaid.
